Frey offers note to readers, gets sued

James Frey, the author who has been under attack for fictionalizing his memoir, A Million Little Pieces, posts a note to readers (PDF file) on his publisher’s web site. This come after a class action lawsuit is brought against him in federal court in Seattle alleging breach of contract, unjust enrichment, negligent misrepresentation, deceit and violation of consumer protection laws.

A political side note. Jon Stewart hit another home run Monday night contrasting the media’s coverage and questioning of Frey with their efforts in connection with Bush and the Iraq war. (It appears starting at about minute 6 of the video “Age of Misinformation” at The Daily Show’s most recent videos.)

My mistake . . . is writing about the person I created in my mind to help me cope, and not the person who went through the experience.
