Weekend update

As hoped, so far it has been hockey, DVDs and books.

The Stampede won a game Saturday night they didn’t deserve to win (3 goals on 12 shots on goal) and got shut out Sunday night when they played much better (0 goals on 33 shots on goal). TV-wise, I saw Friday night’s Gopher game and basically four Olympic hockey games: the two weekend USA losses, the Canadian loss to the Swiss and most of the Finland-Czech Republic game. A guy can’t complain about seven hockey games in roughly 48 hours.

The amount of hockey did cut into the movies but there are priorities in life. I got through less than half the DVD stack but the balance of the day remains for that. There was nothing stunning in the ones I’ve watched so far, although I would recommend Maria Full of Grace

As for books, I completed one of the three I need to do reviews on and got a good start on a second. Granted, the reviews aren’t written but the first and longest step is done or underway. Along those lines, I’m going to be posting a couple reviews in the next couple days to get caught up on prior ones that just haven’t made it here yet.

Best of all, the kids had a successful weekend. The JO volleyball team appears to have finished in the top quarter of its age group at the Twin Cities volleyball tournament. Swimming produced generally a top 20 in all of swim kid’s events, not bad considering each event has anywhere from 40 to more than 100 swimmers competing.
