		<description>While I usually don't reply to comments, I see one of my JAIL friends made one of his/her regular visits and again displayed his/her inability to grasp basic and obvious ideas.

The sentences to which they object are part of my examples of how I felt Updike used "racially insensitive characterizations" in the book.  Of course, recognizing that I was criticizing Updike's portrayal of blacks and Muslims would require an ability to understand what one has read, which may have be asking too much of the commenter.

Some credit is due the commenter, though.  Like most of my JAIL visitors, he/she hides behind the cloak of "anonymous."  Yet at least this comment was in a relatively correct and complete sentence rather than the functional illiteracy that epitomizes most &lt;a HREF="http://prairieprogressive.blogspot.com/2006/08/jail-version-of-whos-on-first.html#115518035137724783" rel="nofollow"&gt;JAILer comments&lt;/A&gt;.</description>
