Congrats to Terry Woster for the commemoration by the state House of Representatives honoring him for his contributions to the state. Among other things, it accurately recognizes his “healthy cynicism” and that he is “a rural Renaissance Man.”

A note to fellow WordPress users: Don’t be surprised if assholes with an IP address in Namibia are trying to hack into your site. An excellent security plugin made me aware of their repeated efforts and I have now eliminated the door they were trying to break open, You would be well advised to do the same.

Bookish Linkage

The National Book Critics Circle, of which I am a member, announced its book awards Thursday night. And this year I’d actually read the fiction and nonfiction winners: Roberto Bolaño’s 2666 and The Forever War by Dexter Filkins, respectively. I didn’t vote for 2666 and The Forever War was fourth on my nonfiction ballot. Here’s the complete list.

Oooh, I soooo want this. Unfortunately, I don’t have a spare $116,530 laying around.
