Vote for Change on TV/radio

I don’t usually post press releases but this arrived via e-mail today from brucespringsteen.net:

On Monday, October 11, 2004, the Sundance Channel will broadcast a television special titled “National Anthem: Inside the “Vote for Change” Concert Tour”. “National Anthem” is a documentary film by acclaimed filmmakers Albert Maysles and D.A. Pennebaker who are known for making some of the greatest music documentaries of all time (Rolling Stones – Gimme Shelter, Bob Dylan – Don’t Look Back, the Beatles – What’s Happening in the USA). “National Anthem” will consist of behind-the-scenes footage from the tour and live performances from the final sold-out “Vote for Change” concert in Washington D.C. on October 11th. National Anthem will air on October 11th from 6:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. ET/PT. Among the artists to be featured in National Anthem are Dave Matthews Band, Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, the Dixie Chicks, Jackson Browne, James Taylor, Keb’ Mo’, Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds, Pearl Jam and R.E.M.

Conceived of a loose coalition of musicians six months ago, “Vote for Change” is a multi-city, multi-artist tour that will include 37 shows in 33 cities in 12 states over 11 days. All Vote for Change shows are presented by MoveOn PAC to benefit America Coming Together (ACT) and all Vote for Change artists have donated their time and talent in support of the tour. The “Vote for Change” headlining artists will come together and share the stage only once during the tour, for a special grand finale concert in Washington D.C. on October 11th. Robert Redford, Sundance Channel founder, was quoted as saying, “From the Kennedys to Dylan, the Beatles and Stones, Al Maysles and D.A. Pennebaker are the pre-eminent observers of politics and music in our time. Sundance is pleased to present these legendary filmmakers’ view of the collision between pop culture and politics at this fascinating moment in U.S. History.”

Live radio and internet broadcasts of the final Vote for Change concert will also be happening concurrently. To date, Music Choice, XM Satellite Radio, Sirius Satellite Radio and stations across 20 states have confirmed that they will broadcast this important event.

The entire concert will be Web cast live at no charge through Real Player. Viewers are encouraged to download the free RealPlayer (for Windows, Mac or Linux desktops) in advance of the October 11th grand finale, at https://www.real.com/. Once RealPlayer is installed, to catch the live concert, click the “Real Guide” tab in the player then click on the “Vote for Change” guitar.

MoveOn PAC is working with its grassroots team to literally bring “Vote for Change” home. While the artists take the stage in Washington D.C. on October 11th, fans and members of MoveOn PAC all over the country will be holding watch parties. Whether you are catching this concert via the Sundance Channel, radio or internet, we hope that you will enjoy the performances and remember to visit the polls and cast your vote on November 2nd.
