I recently commented that “I evidently missed that part of the Bible talking about turning plowshares into swords.” Turns out it actually is there.
Evidently, Joel 3:10 says: “Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruning hooks into spears. Let the weak say, ‘I am strong.'” Guess it goes to show you can find support in scripture for damn near anything.
As an aside, I did not learn this from someone on the Christian right. Rather, I read it in the latest issue of The Progressive, one of the oldest liberal/left magazines around.
The Bible is a reference for all sides of all things.
Swords into Plowhares
Proverbs is interesting in the same way practically from page to page, sage advise on both sides of all kinds of things.
Not too hard to find out where modern politicians get their inspiration for being all things to all people.
