There’s nothing substantive I can add to the frightening and horrific scenes from the I-35W bridge collapse in Minneapolis other than to share the thoughts and concern for the people affected and the Twin Cities as a whole. Undoubtedly, a significant percentage of Sioux Falls residents, myself included, have used that bridge numerous times, making the tragedy feel that much closer to home.
Yet this is also one of the times that blogging may show a brighter side to its value. There are general comments by Twin Cities bloggers I’ve gathered from my RSS reader, such as Emily at Blog of a Bookslut and David at SCOTUSBlog. The NYT blog The Lede is also keeping up to date a post of “the best sources on the Bridge collapse around the Web.”
Still, one of the most compelling items I’ve seen so far is from the blogger who says “35W just came down right in front of my house.” This link is via MPR, which itself has been outstanding both on the air and on the internet.
