I am a 50-year-old (ouch, it hurts to change this to add that) attorney in private practice in Sioux Falls. Before becoming a lawyer, I was a newspaper and wire service reporter.
A lifelong South Dakotan, I have journalism and poli sci degrees from SDSU and my law degree from USD. My political views are heavily influenced by the era in which I grew up, particularly Vietnam and Watergate.
My blog has moved away from the political because the subject ranks so far below my kids, reading and music that it is hardly a blip on the radar. However, the 2006 political climate, particularly the asinine J.A.I.L. amendment on the South Dakota ballot and my state staking out an extreme position on the abortion issue, led to increased activity in those areas through the November 2006 election.
With that election over, I return to the fundamental belief that politics is politics and those who play and live it are welcome to wade in it all they want. I may comment occasionally on a smattering of issues and will have links to political sites for those so inclined. But my focus will be on things that actually bring pleasure, meaning and nuance to life.
Excuse me now. An opportunity to read a book and listen to music commands my attention.
