I was pleasantly reminded again last night of the importance of the Sioux Falls Jazz & Blues Society to cultural existence in Sioux Falls.
While best known for its JazzFest each summer, SFJB kicked off the sixth year of its Concert Series Friday night with jazz singer Dianne Reeves. Each year, the series brings in world-class jazz and blues artists in intimate settings, including such performers as Pat Metheny, Chick Corea, David Sanborn, Manhattan Transfer, Robert Cray, Dr. John and Al Jarreau. Moreover, SFJB frequently uses the series as a vehicle for education.
The contribution this annual series makes to our cultural environment is immeasurable.
