A couple things in the paper the last few days prompt comments:
- According to Dave Kranz’s column today, my blog subtitle could even say vastly outnumbered in Sioux Falls. Kranz reports that a national study says Sioux Falls ranks as the 50th most conservative city in the nation.
- To whomever compiled the “staff and wire reports” on the forthcoming TV season in the daily’s ersatz entertainment supplement, The Link: Seeing dead people, “nasty things … lurking in swamps,” and even the revived Night Stalker are not science fiction idioms. They come from a genre known as horror. I’d have though you might have heard of it but evidently not since you paint SF with such a broad stroke.
- To the hate monger claiming Wednesday in a letter to the editor that since October 26, 2000, “‘all’ terrorist bombing is by Muslims”: You apparently are ignorant of the fact that, just to mention a couple, Basque separatists from Spain have planted bombs since then, as have the FARC movement in Colombia, guerrillas in Northern Ireland and radical movements in Italy, Greece and Peru. None were in any way associated with Islam. Please take your faith-based hatred elsewhere.
